How to set up a new Fire TV Stick, from the box to your first channel

Short answer

Plug the stick into an HDMI port and into power with the supplied adapter, choose that HDMI input, pair the remote, connect to Wi-Fi, sign in to your Amazon account and let the update finish. Then install Downloader and type iptvfire.us/tivimate or iptvfire.us/smarters to install your player.

1. Plug it in properly

Insert the stick into an HDMI port on the TV (use the HDMI extender if the space is tight). Power it with the supplied adapter in a wall outlet, not a TV USB port: a TV port often lacks power and causes restarts or a “low power” message. On a 4K TV, use an HDMI port that supports 4K.

2. Choose the right input and pair the remote

With the TV remote, select the HDMI input where the stick is plugged. Put the batteries in the Fire TV remote; it usually pairs on its own. If not, hold the Home button for about 10 seconds.

3. Language, Wi-Fi and Amazon account

Choose your language, then your Wi-Fi network (preferably 5 GHz) and enter its password. Sign in with your Amazon account, or create one: it is required to use the stick and its app store.

4. Let the update finish

The stick downloads system updates on first start. Leave it plugged in until you reach the home screen. You can check later in Settings › My Fire TV › About › Check for updates.

5. Useful settings for IPTV

Display: Settings › Display & Sounds › Display: leave resolution on automatic.
Developer options: Settings › My Fire TV › About, click the device name 7 times to show them; you will need them to install your player.
Ethernet: for steady 4K, an Amazon Ethernet adapter is worth it if the router is near.

6. Install your IPTV player
